Accuracy
Location differences can occur due to ;
- GPS status and update frequency
- GPS hardware
- Gps accuracy, if the Gps chip is reporting low accuracy the calculated linear position could be wrong. In this case wait until the Gps accuracy reported improves.
- Dataset versions (i.e. an older centreline in mobile road could report different RPs)
- Connected networks – a hotspot/bluetooth or Wifi connection will dilute the reported location considerably. For best results turn off Wifi.
- Old readings. Mobile Road displays the age of the GPS signal used to calculate the RP next to the GPS label, i.e. 10 seconds ago
- Mobile Road cannot force a Gps update. The phone or tablet triggers the app to update when the Gps chip calculates an updated position
Even identical phones could report a slightly different GPS location. This is the nature of consumer grade GPS and applies to all devices and apps.
You can use a survey grade GPS with mobile road as described on this page.
